Why get your MS in Data Science at Michigan?

This unique collaborative program brings together expertise from four key disciplines at the university in a curriculum that is at the forefront of data science.

Science skills, such as those taught by the Computer Science and Engineering Division and the School of Information. This program aims to train well-rounded data scientists who have the skills to work with a variety of problems involving large-scale data common in the modern world. The focus of the curriculum is computational tools and statistical analysis as well as hands-on experience.

What can you do with an MS in Data Science?  

The field of data science offers excellent career paths ranging from business analysts across a variety of industries to novel IT careers to working on scientific research teams. 

With an MS in Data Science all students will be able to: identify relevant datasets, apply the appropriate statistical and computational tools to the dataset to answer questions posed by individuals, organizations, or governmental agencies, design and evaluate analytical procedures appropriate to the data, and implement these efficiently over large heterogeneous data sets in a multi-computer environment.
